windows 7 stops sharing files

I have a computer with windows 7 ultimate.

There are some shared folders and printers on this machine.
This setup looks to work fine but suddenly the sharing stops. If i reboot the pc, it works again.
The pc never goes in some kind of sleep modus.

Does somebody have an idea for a solution?

Thanks in advance

Seppe

Are you setting up a Homegroup or workgroup?

Are you sharing drives or just folders?

If you wouldn't mind, could you explain a bit about how you are 'sharing' these directories?

I tried both, sharing drives (c and share folders (c:\data).

I can try to explain, but have to do it from my memory as I am not at the location where I have this problem.
To share I rightclick the folder, choose properties - sharing. I click on "advanced permissions" and give everyone full control.
I made sure all computers are in the workgroup "workgroup".

In the sharing options of windows 7 i turned off password protected sharing. All the rest is on if i remember well.

Is this the info you needed

ok so after you shared either the drive or folder, it worked correctly?

When you noticed it 'stopped sharing' did you have any other issues? ex: no internet, error icon on your sys tray? anything like that?

Can you check your event logs in system and application? Look for red x's and tell me if you find any.

I'm not at that computer now but probably i will be able to check the eventlog tommorow.
Yes it worked after configuring the "server". When it stops working, it always works again when i reboot the server.

To make sure, you want me to check the eventlog of the client or the server?

both now. Due to you having to "reboot" the 'server', then I am curious to see the 'servers' log too.

On the server i found err id 2017 with source serv.

I googled on this errcode and found it can be solved by modifying registry.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\lanmanserver\parameters\size was on 1 and had to be changed to 3.

It looks like it is working now.

Thanks for all your help.
