anyone know anything about BT's Ip profile system?

Right, here's the issue, over here in the uk the BT network (who basically own the phone lines) set a target SNR for syncing with your router, which increases if it sees the line as "unstable" (ie more than 2 resynchs in 3 hours or something like that) my old ISP sent me a dodgy router and this has sent my target SNR through the roof, resulting in low sync speeds,

i dont suppose anyone knows, does it automatically reset itself after a while? or am i stuck with this new crap profile?

So who's your ISP now and did you get a new router ?

I know when first going with BT and their Home Hub there is a 10 day settling period where the line will fluctuate then stabilise to a speed that your line can handle.

What speed do you get and what should you be getting ?

thanks for the reply joan,

iv gone with plusnet now, but its still a bt line as its a bt only exchange here, yes its a new router, the "normal" sync rate is just over 6000Kbps with a stable target SNR or 6Db, im now down to 4000Kbps with a target SNR of 13Db,

thats basically what im asking, the training period has completed with virgin, now iv gone with plusnet, and because there was no "downtime" its using the same profile that my Virgin connection was using, the training period hasnt restarted, im just wondering whether it will eventually settle back to where its meant to be, or whether its worth seeing if plusnet can restart the training period, i tried earlier but the bloke didnt seem to understand what i was on about
