    Sharing cable internet service

My brother and I now live in the same condo building and both of us are light users of our Comcast cable internet service. I used 6 GB of an allowed 250 GB last month.

I would like to share my brothers service and cancel my service w/comcast. He has a Linksys G router and I have Buffalo G router. I have programmed a Hawking wireless range extender to his service to boost the signal around my condo but I can pick up his signal directly to my PC via a USB wifi adapter(3 bars signal).

I get the "No internet access" message when connecting to his wireless service. No problem if I hook to my wireless signal, I get internet access...
To confuse the issue, when I first hooked to my brother's router it worked good but only for about 1 day and then the No Internet message.

I have run the troubleshooting progy in win 7 to no avail.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

    Hello 1stLink,
    Welcome to SevenForums!!!

This may be a matter of how his router is set-up. Does he use MAC addresses to allow computers to connect? Also, what is security settings?

    Let us know,
    Ben

    Thanks for the quick response.
I have the password and have logged on OK. I'm not sure about the MAC address question. How do I check that?
