Windows 7: Windows 7 64bit and WLAN?

Windows 7 64bit and WLAN?

I know there's about a million threads on this issue, but I've tried nearly everything and am still getting absolute random ping spikes/"request timed out". I've tried disabling firewall, and anti-virus - no luck. My connection is a home wifi, but I have it set as Workgroup like some have suggested. Ipv6 disabled, did the "netsh interface tcp set global autotuning=disabled" in cmd, added TcpAckFrequency and TCPNoDelay in registry, drivers for network card (WMP54G) are up to date.. tried running both Vista Anti-Lag AND WLAN Optimizer, nothing. Any help is appreciated. When I first installed Win 7 I came from Vista, using the upgrade option keeping all of my data. Wireless worked absolutely fine with no ping spikes or anything. Yesterday I reinstalled windows to fix one problem, and now my wireless is messed up..

EDIT: Oh, one more quick question. What's the difference between "Request timed out" and a ping spike to > 1000 ? I'm assuming a request timed out is just a bigger spike?
