Can you network with win7 and XP machines

I am having problems with connecting my new win 7 computer to my network (all of which are XP). I cannot access my network drive or for some strange reason Outlook. Any suggestions? thanks Brian

The best luck I have had mixing either 7 or Vista with XP is to use a Workgroup and the default public folders. Enable file and printer sharing. Disable password control. Here's the weird thing.. it seems once you have it set up to use the public folders, then if you share a different folder, it will work with the new folder also.

Don't ask me why but it does.

Don't try to use the 'homegroup' stuff. It won't work with XP. Just use the same workgroup as your XP already has. If you have some kind of domain setup, then I can't help you. I'm not a network expert. Just relating how I got my home systems to "Lan" for me.

Same programs on Xp and Win7 machines, no Flac on win7?
I use mainly Winamp for audio and VLC for video. I have music that I've played on my XP machine transferred onto my Win7 Machine, and it won't play on the Win7 machine. To my knowledge Winamp and VLC both should have flac playback. Kinda curious as to what's going on. :(
