Accessing Shared Directorys on the Virtual PC

Running Win 7 64bit Pro

I have been running ICVerify 4.0.3 for several weeks successfully on the virtual pc. Applications on the machine where the virtual pc is running communicate with ICVerify by creating files in the shared directory "\\xfx01-virtualxp\icverify". All worked fine until yesterday when my applications began reporting they could not access "\\xfx01-virtualxp\icverify". At the command prompt I entered "dir \\xfx01-virtualxp\icverify" and got the message "The network path was not found". Using the Win 7 I was able to access "\\xfx01-virtualxp\icverify" but not from the command prompt. What should I check to eliminate such behavior?

I noticed that update KB976264 was installed the same day my problems began to appear. Uninstalling the update did not correct the problem.

As a work around I discovered if I set the network adapter on the virtual pc to an incorrect controller and then set it back to the correct controller everything works as expected.

FTW ICVerify is credit card processing software that will run on the virtual machine but will not run on Win 7 64 bit.
