    configure filezilla for ISP allegiance.tv

I am trying to load some web pages to my ISP, allegiance.tv with filezilla.

    I get the message
    "Status: Waiting to retry...
    Status: Resolving address of allegiance.tv
    Status: Connecting to 67.228.17.244:21...
Status: Connection attempt failed with "ECONNREFUSED - Connection refused by server".
Error: Could not connect to server

I cannot find where the error is. Does anybody else use allegiance.tv? I believe my host, user and password are correct.

Does the ISP have a web page where you can look into your account? Have you accessed it with any other ftp client? Just trying to figure out the locus of the problem.

edit: another thing, sometimes these ISPs have a local nntp newsgroup where you go with support questions. Sometimes users are more helpful than ISP employees and you can get a quick answer there.

Although I guess many ISPs aren't supplying nntp groups nowadays. They expect you to buy it yourself from giganews or some other outfit.

The ISP has instructions for loading web pages but they are generic rather than specific to the ISP. I have tried to apply the allegiance.tv equivalent as I understand it but keep getting the same error message.

There is a FAQ page but here again, generic answers. I have sent a query to the ISP but it is usually several days to get a response and often the response is a reference to their generic answers.

I am hoping to get another response from an allegiance.tv user who has loaded web sites to them although any response here will be welcome.

Hmmmm, they don't accept anonymous login. The only thing I noticed unusual is they demand the user name have the entire email address as in user@isp.net.

Do they have a private nntp group by any chance? A lot of ISPs have their own ngs. Or at least they used to. More chance of finding specific ISP users there.

Well, I finally heard from allegiance telling me they no longer host web sites for their customers. This information, not regarding their instructions telling how to upload PWPs. O.K.

    Thanks for the comments.
