map network drive / samba -> win7 / volume serial num
I have a small network with 5 WinXP boxes and a SuSE 10.3 server with samba and firebird sql server for running a custom app. To run it properly i need to "map network drive" to a client system so app can access files and firebird sql can authenticate properly.
Recently we got one new box with Windows 7 and here problem starts.
On this box I can map network drive, access it R/W etc ... but for some reason app won't start returning auth error. I've contacted app provider and found out that my mounted network drive have a different "volume serial number" and that's why app won't work (or cannot auth with firebird sql).
As a result i figured out that all winXP boxes get one/same "volume serial number" and Windows 7 and/or Vista get different one on maped network drive.
V:\>dir Volume in drive V is AppDrive Volume Serial Number is 0A95-04B0
V:\>dir Volume in drive V is AppDrive Volume Serial Number is 6BN0-04B0
