Problems with obtaining new IP from router

I have a problem with connection every time there is power failure in my house and both router and pc are off. System cannot get IP from router what causes lack of Internet connection, but still I can browse all LAN devices.

I cannot fix it and every time it happens I got to reinstall the system. I have dual boot (Vista and 7) and Vista has no problem with this.

Im using latest network drivers from nvidia website. Is there a cure?

i would save up for a UPS (battery backup) if i were you? not only will you have this problem, but other hardware problems/failures as well.

If you can view your LAN then you are connected to the router fine. Wired or wireless? Power down router (5 min), reset modem while waiting out the 5 min, then fire up the router, and in 30 secs you should be connected. If not, go to start/ type cmd... then type ipconfig /all and see what your network info is telling you.

i'm not sure if this is of any help, but i'm having a similar problem with 7077 x64 and it seems to be working when i enable the netbios over tcp/ip setting in the advanced tcp/ip v4 settings of the wireless adapter.

my first post btw, hi all!

    Wired.

I think that i would rather call electricians team to do something about wires in walls. This make me mad. My house is not that old, but with this electricity I feel like in the middle of medieval age. Power goes off too often.

I wont simulate the problem, I want to have connection, but I will think about yours tips when it happens.

    Thanks.

Alan Wake. What procedure do you use when restarting? The same thing happened to me for awhile. I started the pc's and have no connection. after pc's are fully on I would just unplug router for 10 sec. then plug back in and all pc's would reconnect.Like digger said end all your woes with a UPS that for sure works.. lm

I tried unplugging router from power for one minute or two, but it didn't work. I have to wait for next power failure to tell you more, but what nObRaIn said seems to be a hopeful solution - I have never tried this.

Thanks all for replying. Now I have to wait for power to go off :)
