Do you have a backup to restore from? do you have a win dvd to do a repair install?

Go into event viewer (type eventvwr in search) go too the windows log>application tab.

Look for critical errors (they have red in the left hand column) that refer to wifi. when you find them let us know what the event ID and source codes are.

Let us know if you need help

Since this is a laptop, there might be a button to toggle the wifi connection.

I have suffered from this insanity of "Why dont I have wifi!!" only to realize there was a button on the laptop......This is setup like this to allow you to turn it off to save battery power.

Also, Please update your system specs or post back on what model laptop you purchased.

Good point, on Acer laptops they are usually on the underside around the edge, usualy in fron or on teh side, just a little slide button. There is usually a light with a picture of a satellite dish or antenna that should be lit if the wireless is on. If not try sliding that switch over and see if the light comes on.

So does the light light up though for the wirles indicator? If it doesn't light up, maybe the card go loose inside off hte motherboard? If you right click "Computer, "properties", device manager, do you see the wireless card listed under Network adapters?
