    Connection problems with Steam.exe

Ok hopefully you guys know what Steam.exe is for steam games. My problem is that I can not connect to steam at all. I have turned off my firewall from what I can see. I do not use a router. I have no other software firewall that could be blocking it.

The Steam support is useless and doesnt give me any information.

I installed the Windows XP mode VM and I can connect to steam.exe through that with no problem. So what is the problem with Windows 7? I was able to use it at one point then all of a sudden it just refuses.

I dont know what info you guys need to help me, I will provide anything you guys ask.

    Edit:
I am also having problems with the program "Diablo 2" where it refuses to connect to battle.net yet my Warcraft 3 connects fine.

The firewall is the default Windows 7 firewall and my antivirus is AVG.

I have no prob with steam (connected right now BTW) So what are your systems specs and are you using the X64 bit windows 7 or X86? Also what do you use for a ISP? It could be a bad connection to the internet causing steam to timeout wile trying to connect

Im using x64 and my ISP is comcast.

    Edit:
I figured out what the problem was. For what ever reason these programs refuse to connect to the internet when running in any compatibility mode. I assume this is only happening to me since this would be a big problem for other people.
