Have to relogon every morning

Have a Windows 7 machine connected to a Win Server 2003. Every morning in order for me to see the server I need to log off and then on (there is a red "X" on the Server in Explorer). I have a Realtek RTL8168D/8111D Family PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC (NDIS 6.2). Not sure what build I have.

I am not very familiar with this kind of stuff.

Thanks for your help.

If your computer is going to sleep, it might be disconnecting the network drives. I'm not sure of a solution because I don't use sleep or hibernate.

It is not going to sleep or hibernating, at least it is not set up. The screen saver doesn't cause the problem either.

Is this a home computer or a at work? Maybe there is a group policy that after x number of minutes of inactivity you get logged off.

Also, take a look at your power management settings, through the control panel. Also, in the control panel, under Networking... check to see if your NIC is allowed to sleep or not.

Work PC. Not sure where to find the group policy that would get me logged off after x minutes.

Under the Power Management tab the box is NOT checked for "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power."

Not sure where to find out about NIC (network internet connection?) sleeping or not under Network and Sharing Center.

Power state mappings (if this helps):

S0 -> D0
S0 -> Unspecified
S0 -> Unspecified
S0 -> D3
S0 -> D3
S0 -> D3
