No Gateway on 'Network'
If it is not there, that would explain why we can't get in. ;-)
Try the troubleshooter in Network and Sharing center.
And as I posted earlier directly from the support page of your router, the firmware update messed things up and you need to follow the directions in the second part of the post. Hint> reload the firmware or try a different version of the firmware. Use the link I posted in my first post then get the latest firmware version and reinstall it.

Casca: Tried Troubleshooter, but it did not find anything wrong, for there is nothing wrong with the network, I'm connected.
chev65: Firmware update did NOT messed things, I'm connected. The Modem is running flawlessly, since jul/2009, with full setup access thru WinXP. No need to reinstall the firmware. Is Win7 related
The only mysterious trouble is Win7 entering the Modem Setup with it's current IP (192.168.254.254). Could it be something related to Win7 'IP range', or Firewall settings, or...
Could this '401' error hint something? (Actually, I'm not in Kansas -- inside the Modem's setup -- I was denied entry at the 'south border migra', in spite of my valid passport, OK when entering thru Canada ;-)
Still baffled,
And NO 'Residential Gateway' on WinXP either.
(But this Gateway absence never prevented me to enter the Modem Setup, using WinXP)
