PS3 causes VLC to crash
I have a PS3 and a PC connected on a network. The PC is connected to a TV in the lounge room, and the PS3 is connected to another TV in another room.
Both devices are connected to a D-LINK DIR-655 router via D-LINK DGS1016D gigabit switch. All cables are cat6, and all NIC on PS is gigabit.
There is a server which is used as a file store.
When watching a movie from the server on the PC in the lounge room, if the PS3 is turned on the VLC media player, or Windows Media Player will crash. If the PS3 is turned of, VLC and WMP play the movie without problems. If I copy the file to the PC and watch from there it plays fine.
I used to have a netgear WNR3500 router, and the problem existed then too.
I tried different ports on switch but it made no difference.
Any ideas what might be going on?
Are there any tools I can use the analyse the traffic and see what is happening?
Thanks
