Can't access remotely
Hi hope this is the right section for this:
I am trying to set up remote access so that a couple of us can access our work computers from home. All work pc's have Windows 7 Ultimate & are on a Workgroup.
The error we get when trying to connect remotely is:
- We use a Belkin router.
- I have set up the router to forward to port 3390 but not sure if I have done it correctly & the Belkin support is pretty useless.
- In my Remote setup, I have checked: Allow Remote Assistance connections to this computer; Allow connections from computers running any version of Remote Desktop; & Allow this comphter to be controlled remotely (under Advanced).
- I have sleep/hybernation disabled on all the pc's we want to connect to remotely.
Remote Desktop can't connect to the remote computer for one of these reasons:
1. Remote access to the server is not enabled
2. The remote computer is turned off
3. The remote computer is not available on the network
The login used from the home pc's is the IP address for Computer, & the username used to log into the work pc. I do know all work pc's were on at the time of testing from the home pc's.
The way I set it up on my router config page is our IP with the last digit changing consecutively for each individual; as well as the port starting at 3389.
What am I doing wrong or missing here? Any help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks
