Network slow to initialize on startup, slow system

    Specs: Win7 64bit, 4GB ram.

For the past little while now, whenever I would turn on my computer, things would start up but it would hang, in the sense that nothing *would* start up until the network was found and connected to. The network indicator icon in the taskbar would just have a frozen blue spinning circle. While that was happening, I would still have internet access, but certain things like watching youtube would cause the browser to crash. I would be like that for about 10 minutes until suddenly it would tell me "network found" and the rest of my pc starts up as usual.

When in safe mode with networking, this problem does not occur. I used msconfig and disabled everything that starts up to see if that was the issue but the problem still occurred.

After some google searching, I found some results that tied to having an HP printer, some Nvidia network connection... But alas, I had none of those things. On start up, I checked my resource monitor to try to catch anything weird, all I saw were alot of svchosts and pagefile/windows stuff.

Here's a screenshot of the resource monitor and the network icon thingy.

I could use the help for this one, I'm just about ready to format at this point..

This is obviously a network thing. Has something changed? did it ever work? are you using "homegroup" or workgroup?

Formatting wont help a network problem.

Nothing changed. 4 months ago I went from wireless to plugged in. Its set as a homegroup. Local area connection.

Everything looks like it should from what I can tell.

The problem only started a few days ago. I don't know why, I can't recall changing anything

Just for the heck of it, you might open a command window and type ipconfig /all to see what it shows. Maybe you do not have a default gateway, or a DNS server set up.

You can also check the Network and Sharing Center, Local Area Connection, Details button. While there, try the diagnose button.

Your Service provider may be having a problem. You did enable the Wired adapter, and disable the wireless?

And resetting the router and your computer then restarting might help.

I have all that stuff properly set up. Diagnose reports no problems. It cant be my ISP because my internet works while this is happening. Its like my computer waits for some network check before it finishes starting up completely.

Also I did disable the wireless adapter. Resetting router and PC has no effect.

    Hi,TurboGFF
I have the exact same problem .
In fact i never been here, i googled this "network internet access hangs on windows 7 system start up" and this thread came up so i registered to ask you if you succeed to resolve this ?

    Here are my system spec:
    Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
    Core 2 duo 2.66
    Gigabyte p35-ds4
    4 gb ram

I see we have the same (almost) motherboard so maybe there lies the problem.
Btw my integrated motherboard LAN network card is dead so i`m using PCI separate one.
Anyway if you have found some clue about this please let me know.

I have not been able to find a solution yet. I kind of gave up. So while I wait for it to start up, I make breakfast or something.

i am having the same problem. when i start up my pc it takes about 5 minutes to "realize" (the blue circle) that i have internet access, tho my network works fine from the first second after logon (manually configured ip etc), i have ping replies, browsing and bittorrent client work fine and so on but with a single exception: yahoo messenger. it won't login until the blue circle disappears and it notifies me "network 7 - internet access".

we have to let Microsoft know about this issue as i am firmly convinced that it IS NOT a driver issue but an operation system related one. (i've seen it on different hardware configurations, different network adapter vendors etc)
