Windows7 Ultimate 64bit

dawkins, what's the make/model of your DSL modem? I rarely see (well, honestly... I never see a DSL modem that just do modem) a DSL modem that just do modem business... Can you tell us what's the make/model? And see if you can see behind the modem, does it have an Ethernet port?
As for your router, how many ms latency did it add to your connection? Every single router I have doesn't add more than 2-4ms of latency, which is negligible...

'always dial my default connection' has been selected, but it still won't connect automatically.

zzz2496: The modem is this one DM111Pv2 - Broadband DSL Modem -, it is connected with the PC with an Ethernet cable. It was designed when windows vista wasn't still out.
As for latencies the lowest i get now is around 25/30ms, while with the router (also Netgear, connected to the same modem) it was around 100/150ms. It could be an aberration, could be fault of the ISP or the test servers, i don't know.
Another reason i don't want to use it anymore is that i don't feel at easy with very near wireless sources.

I think, right now, you're on PPPoE dialup mode, I suppose you can read your modem's manual, and set it up so that it will connect automatically using it's internal PPPoE client rather than your PC's...
