share adsl internet through wi-fi on a laptop

I have a laptop connected to the internet through a wired ADSL modem. The laptop has a wi-fi card, and I'd like to share my ADSL connection through this wi-fi with other computers.

    The laptop is running Win7.

Can anyone please give me a link to a tutorial on how to do it?

    Thank you!

    Alright first thing is first...

Can you give us the make and model of your laptop. There is a few things I have to look up on your computer before this can be done.... first.. make sure your not running Windows 7 Starter.

Are you a home based computer? Are the others computers yours/familly?
or do you want to share when friends are around?

If all the other computers have Wifi enable it shouldn't be a prob for them to connect to internet.

Now if you want to set a Hot-Spot Wifi:

    Sounds like bridging is possible.

Does your wifi card to the laptop, have the software that you can configure SSID to be broadcasted? If so set it up, test connecting to this SSID from another wireless machine. If you can connect to this SSID, then bridge your LAN and wireless connections from the orignal laptop.

If there is no way of create and broadcasting a wifi SSID, and you absolutely need wireless internet access, get a wireless router.

This is also too complicated, I don't want to know the theory of networking and internet connection sharing.

Do you have a simple step-by-step guide on how to do exactly what I need to do, like "click this link, open this tab, check this box and press OK"?

I'm writing on this forum because I don't want to spend hours of my time studying the subject and to become a specialist in it, only to press a couple of buttons once in my lifetime.

You guys already have all this knowledge please just tell me where to click.

The bold. Do you mean you have a internal wireless adapter (like most laptop do) or a wifi card ie PCMCIA card. Is this what u have?

If you don't know the meaning of bridging two types of connections, maybe you need to buy a wireless router.

Ok so as i mentioned before, bridging is possible with your LAN internet'd connection AND your wireless connection, however for other wireless devices to connect to share internet off the laptop, you will need to create wireless ad-hoc connection.

To create the ad-hoc wireless connection, go to Network and Sharing Centre > click on Set up a new connection or network link. the select the highlight. Then setup your ad-hoc.

share adsl internet through wi-fi on a laptop-noname.jpg

Note: when you set up this wireless ad-hoc connection it will use your laptop's wireless adapter. Your laptop wireless adapter cannot be used more than once at time.
