    Windows 7 streaming problems/ WMP12

Can anyone please help? I am a new ps owner and am running W7, 64 with WMP12. I have enabled sharing per the on-line instructions and at times I get an error: No files found, other times I get nothing- just a loop. My ps3 sees WMP12 as a server but I simply can not play any files. I tried tversity, ps3, among several others and I get the same result: My ps3 sees the server and my files, but I can't play my files... it will read no files found, no images, etc. This is an incredible frustration! Any ideas or suggestions? Thank you!

Not sure it this helps: But my internet provider is verizon and I am attempting to connect wirelesly. When I set up my ps3 the first time, it recognized my network and I am running at 75-85% strength. Would hard wiring help?

Hi derekimo: Thank you for posting that tutorial, very well done and laid out. Ok, After reviewing the link, I was able to strem from to my ps3 from wmp12. However, I went back later and had the same error- either no images found or just a loop....I restarted my pc, and unfortunately had same problem. So, I am making progress! At least it worked 1x.... Under "more streaming options" in wmp12 it seems I have to keep changing local to all networks.... in other words: I click ok, on all networks and highlight "unknown device" but it reverts back to local networks. Wonder if that is not my problem? Is there a way to permanently leave it at all networks? Thank you, I am very new to streaming, ps3, etc.

I honestly like PS3 Media Server becuase it actually encodes my files correctly and displays them on my TV like they are suppose too. I have tried WMP and ORB; they both screwerd up the picturel

Downloads - ps3mediaserver - Project Hosting on Google Code

If you decide to use this.. It is very easy to set up. Make sure that you are on the main menu of your PS3 so that this program can detect it on the network.

If you have your files in a certain Video folder, just go to the navigation tab and point it to that directory.

Secondly... make sure your Java is up to date.. i think the latest is 20

Thxs for reply! I have tried ps3 MS as well..... and unfortunately, I have two issues: 1) At times it simply can't find my ps3, 2) When it does find my ps3, I get an error "no images found". I updated java, and am always sure to have ps3 on before trying ps MS. This is what happens: (when it finds my ps3) I navigate to the music menu, I then can see my music folder and the each band. I then try to open, for example God Smack and I get "no images found". I have read all over the internet trying to find a server to use with my PS3, but I am beginning to think the issue is more with the PS3 itself.

The only time that the "no images found" comes up for me is if i am in the MUSIC directory of the UMB in the PS3 and looking for movie files.

or vise versa.... I guess it looks for the extentions.

Maybe your firewall is blocking port 5001 which I know that program uses to communicate to the PS3. Another thing to help is to make your PS3 and Server computer to always obtain static IPs.

ON the ps3 MS I entered 5007 for port as I read over at the ps3 forum to try that. Still nothing.... This entire situation is odd- I have tried orb, tversity, ps3 wmp12, etc. and each works for a period of time- but then if I walk away and come back later- no joy. I have installed and re-installed so many times I have lost count.

You mentioned static Ip'S- I presume this is in the menu of the ps3? Thanks again!
