where is my modem on fiber optic system ?

i had fiber optics installed for my internet. they took out the modem i had and ran the cable from the wall into my wifi router and then into my tower. is there a router somewhere or do i need to purchase one? and why does it keep kicking my connection off now? do i need to purchase a FO modem? can i use a 4 port ethernet hub with this system? someone help. i cant wrap my head around this. i thought you needed a modem to hook up to the internet.

You dont need a modem when using fiber optic. As to why it keeps kicking you, thats another story. Are you using homegroup?

You can use a 4 port ethernet hub if you want but why would you?

i was using homegroup, but read somewhere that it was better to use workgroup instead. the reason for the hub is, i just bought a printer with ethernet capability and i thought i would use the hub to plug that into. and maybe later wire my kids comps instead of using wifi and give them some more speed. ( so if you dont need to have a modem for FO, does the isp take care of that now, and if i want to use a proxy for downloads, can their tracking ability be stopped? ) not that i do it much, but once in a while i find something that i want to watch or listen to. by the way, is there a way to fix it so i dont lose internet connection, and is workgroup better? i have 3 comps all running win 7 64 bit.
