I created a homegroup on my computer. Since then I have reinstalled my OS and the Homegroup is still visible. I cannot create a new one since one already exists on this network. But I can't disable it because the PC "doesn't exist", or really is just named something else. How can I get this to go away?
A single particular rogue file seems to cause this problem. Follow the post below which should help you to leave that Homegroup. After that you can create a new one.
If you want to create a new Homegroup you might want to go through the list below and check to make sure that everything is set up correctly as in the second link below.

Ok so now it lets me create a new homegroup, but ipv6 has been uninstalled from device manager. It exists in the properties GUI of my wireless connection but not in DM.
If IPv6 wasn't working there would be no way for you to create a Homegroup.
You can check for Ipv6 functionality by typing ipconfig /all then "enter" into the command prompt. the IPv6 address should be showing up there for you under the Toredo tunneling Pseudo interface. :)
Ipv6 is not showing there, or in the device manager. Is there a way to reinstall it? All the info I can find is for Vista and does not work.

Driver was available for all operating systems. Windows automatically installs the driver at restart and the problem does not disappear. So... I reinstalled my operating system. Full reinstall, formatted the hard drive etc. Once I got the system back up I checked homegroup and I was allowed finally to create a new homegroup. As soon as I tried to connect my other computers to the homegroup the whole thing went back to square 1. Uninstalled and reinstalled the wireless adapter driver and now there is an "issue with the driver" and wireless connection does not work. UGGGG
