Access point with no Internet access

Hello people. I've recently purchased an Edimax EW-7416APN Wireless 802.11n Access Point - Range extender to extend the wireless range in a hospital ward. The problem that I'm having at the minute is than any wireless device that is running on Windows 7 or Vista can connect to the Access Point but it's not giving them Internet access. However, it is providing Internet access to Wireless Devices on other operating systems. For example, we have successfully connected to the Internet using an iBook, iPhone and a laptop running Linux. The laptop that's running Linux is dual booting with Windows 7 and also successfully connects to other wireless routers in Windows 7, as did other laptops that were running Windows Vista. I have upgraded the firmware on the range extender but this has made no difference.

Has anyone else come across this problem? If so, how can I rectify it?

Thanks in advance.

John

You are probably using "homegroup". Homegroup, on some systems, has connectivity issues. You van test that by creating a new network connection using "workgroup" instead. If it works you can disable IPv6 and kill homegroup.

Let usw know if you need help doing that.

Thanks for your reply. I have tried creating a new connection that is set to a public network rather than a hom network but this has made no difference. This is really confusing me. Why do I only have the problems with Windows 7 and Windows Vista but no other operating systems?

I have worked with networks in the past and have rectified the problems, but this has just got me stumped.

Ken was talking about HomeGroup, not different network types (home, work or public), which is a completely different thing.
