    Sync Center and Network drives

I have been having a strange problem where Sync Center seems to be storing network drives as offline folders.

Even though I am connected to the network all the time and the network drives never go offline they still become unavailable.

The network drive appear in the sync partnerships but I have not set these up and have been unable to remove them even when turning offline files off and back on again.

The only Sync which should be there is the folder for eel1651 the rest are network drives which it should not be trying to Sync. It is causing files to become unavailable even when I am currently working on them, so I can't save them.

As you can see here some of the files have become unavailable compared with above.

I have disabled all the firewalls and AV on computer and the problems is still happening.

Any help would be very appreciated as its now almost impossible to work on files on any of the network drives.

I have also noticed that if I put the full path of the network drive \\server01\shared the files become available how ever if I go to v: which i mapped to that location, the files will sometimes dissapear as shown here

Does anyone know the reason for this?

Looks to me like you are attempting to share an entire drive. Windows 7 doesn't make this as easy because it's considered a security risk. You will need to go into the Security settings in order to share a drive with full permissions. I have the sequence for this if you need it.

It is a network drive on a server so the access to folders is being control with groups within AD.

Rapp, did you ever figure out a solution? I'm having a similar problem with Win2003 servers and group policy set up so that only \My Documents should be sync'd. However, it's also making \sysvol and a \public share into offline files. Other WinXP and Win7 users work fine and other GP policies seem to work fine on this PC. Any input?

    Hello

Sorry for the delayed response, we have not found a solution as yet but have found a work around. We had to disable app data roaming and had to map all of the network drives using the IP address.

We still have issues with the sync center making the public shares offline but it seems to be a lot better than before, Microsoft haven't been much help with the issue.

    Hope this helps you out.
