wired and wireless connection

Is there a way to make windows 7 turn off the wireless adapter when it sees the wired connection when the laptop is put in a docking station or a wired connection is made?

Hi bigdogy2k welcome to the forums

Although I don't know of a way to do this (I'm afraid ) I tend to find that with my PC, if a wired connection and wireless are made at the same time, the wired connection will take preference anyway. Hope it helps

I agree windows uses the wired connection based on a tracert, but I would like to find a way to disable the wireless connection when the wired is active. The problem is DNS is not properly registered when both connetions are still up. A ping by machine name yeilds the wireless IP address. I feel this is going to cause support issues in a corporate environment going forward not to mention the same machine will be connected to 2 VLANs.

is this any good to you? Disable Wireless When Connected to LAN in XP and Vista at WLAN Book.com the screens are all for XP but it says it works on Vista too and therefore by extension 7.

Yes, I'm looking at connection managers and I'll review this one. I was hoping for a way to do this within Windows 7 and having a seperate connection manager.

Thanks

If you go to the control panel then to credential manager, you can choose a connection and edit from there.
