Windows 7: "Ethernet" Connection Drop

like what most people have discuss before, but i am having trouble when it's actually ethernet cable... My connection drops on average about 15mins, with torrent, skype, and msn running. it's really annoying to have to troubleshoot every 15-20mins!!.. anyone found a solution to this??

I try searching the forum, but everyone else is complaining about wireless instead of ethernet..

wow, this is interesting..... fill out your specs...especially what ethernet card you have, what router model, firmware and the rest of the obvious network information and anything else pertinent about this issue, the more detail the better

mod may want to merge this thread with about 2 others, just from today alone, and probably a few more could be found just from the past week. Am wondering if this is really a big issue or is it all user/system/network specific.

my card is realtec RTL8139\810x
i'm connected via university using telnet.

the internet is falling every 5-20 minutes...

does anyone has a solution for this?? 'cause the system is working great besides that

(tried turning off router - no help)
(other computer is working)
(tried reinstalling driver - made things worst, ended up doing a system recover)


i am not sure what else i should add, let me know if you need more(preferably where can i get those info).

it's really annoying to have your connection drop on you every 15 - 20minutes, while browsing and all of the sudden you find that your connection is dead... luckily i still have my macbook here..

I'm getting 5 minutes at best before i have to reset my adapter. My ethernet card is part of my mobo

(ASUS P5N32-E SLI LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 680i SLI ATX Intel Motherboard running a Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield 2.4GHz LGA 775 Quad-Core Processor).

I have all the latest drivers and it worked fine with ultimate 64bitt.

The most obvious thing to check first is your torrenting. From personal experience from having to use my ISP Verizon's router which is used to connect to them, then I have my own router that connects to, to isolate my network....

The Verizon router drops connections all the time with Azureus (Vuze) no matter how I set it. I have the latest firmware, doesn't help and people complain all over the net about this with this particular modem/router. So maybe try switching torrent clients as a test. Or simply do no torrenting and see if that helps as a test.

thanks for the quick response torrent G. I'm not using any torrents, my internet cuts out just surfing Google or checking email, updating podcasts, anything, it just continuously resets. I have tried newest driver and uninstalled/reinstalled. I have tried resetting my ip address, and setting a static ip.

yup, it's not just about torrenting.. even browsing the internet could cause me an connection drop..

not about the torrenting and also not about the router, as i dont have that verizon router myself... happened with my 54g v8 and also swapped it out last night with a 54gs.... same ole thang... dropps under heavy stress, no certain time limit that i can see while under heavy stress, although what i do notice by looking at my net meter graph is that it does have its interval pattern.

I can agree that its definitely not about torrenting or router.. without torrent on, and by just opening windows live mail caused me a connection drop.. its getting very annoying, dont you guys think so? just hope someone could come up with an solution fast..

the error messsage i keep getting is "the default gateway not available". hope this extra info helps. it's getting more persistence in dropping my connection.. :'(
