Windows 7 no longer finds my internet connection(wired)

I installed the windows 7 rc build 7100 yesterday. I had everything working fine, and when I came back to my computer 5 hours later, after I had already restarted it multiple times, windows tells me there is no internet connections. I use an ethernet cable to my router. It worked before I left my computer. So, I troubleshooted it and it said there might be a problem with the driver for the local area connection adapter. I am running this on a hp amd athlon 64 processir 3800+ 2.4ghz with 1.0 gb ram on a 32 bit os. My router is made by 2wire, and has worked previously. Anyone know why it won't connect anymore? The cables are plugged in, and everything is the way it was before. How can I fix this?

what happens if you go straight from your modem to the NIC? I had a similar problem, and upgrade the firmware on my router and it fixed it.

I also had a minor problem with my 2Wire Modem, and Win 7.
fix:
delete the connection made by Win 7.
open made connection and when you see options/advanced
that is where you enter your 2wire log and pass.

I have a similar problem:

Haven't found a solution yet. Mine is a Netgear switch connected to a university T3 network modem. It works when I boot from XP on the same computer!

My Fix for 2wire router-modem

My router/modem is by 2wire. works perfect in XP and Vista. Windows 7 i had constant disconnect - no connection found. etc etc etc.
FIX: start manual setup connection, in options --> GO TO ADVANCED.
there you will find a place to enter your ISP Login name and pass.
NO MORE PROBLEMS ON Windows 7. simply reboot to XP or Vista and instant connect.

XP 32

I have cable, with no log on or password from ISP. Not sure why it asks for one. Works fine if I hook up to my XP computer. I called Charter to see if there was a log on and password I didn't know about, they said no.

I have ATT. if for some reason the adapter connection is corrupt.
I fixed my problem with --> open control panel, located the nic adapter, click delete, and delete the adapter , driver ever thing related. I then rebooted, and Windows 7 should repair tht portion, by adding the found adapter and driver which is stored in the inf files.

Worked for me.

XP 32

For some reason using the windows troubleshooting worked this time. I had tried it several times before with no luck... no changes that I can think of that would make it work. Weird, but I'll take it.

snuffy, did you happen to notice when you did uninstall and "delete" that the driver never really deleted from system32? I also imagine that you didnt have to install the driver back on yourself, especially if you had to install it the first time yourself manually instead of windows. If so, didnt you find this to be a bit strange that the driver wasnt completely deleted, prompting the need for another install of the driver? This was my case throughout all of this.

When you open and find the device, and click DELETE, it ask if you want to delete the drivers also. YES, is the correct answer, Now actually it is not deleted until you REBOOT. then Windows 7 or Vista will locate and install the needed adapter and driver. (notice in the taskbar) that such is being done. when all is done, it will popup your device is installed and ready for use. Notice I did say DELETE not uninstall. There is a difference between the two.
