    Limited or no connectivity problem

So i bought a refurbed Acer aspire x1301 the other day and i came with home premium on it. i went and bought an upgrade key for pro and it upgraded no problem. then when i went to start getting MS updates there was limited or no connectivity. ive tried releasing/renewing the ip address, nothin... reset the TCP/IP stack, nothing.... set unidentified networks to private, nothin. used static and dynamic ips... nothing. any help would be appreciated.

After upgrades it sometimes helps to reset Winsock if you are having connection problems.

    1. Click start, type cmd in the Start Search box, right-click cmd.exe, click Run as administrator, and then press Continue.

    2. Type netsh winsock reset at the command prompt, and then press ENTER.

Note If the command is typed incorrectly, you will receive an error message. Type the command again. When the command is completed successfully, a confirmation appears, followed by a new command prompt. Then, go to step 3.

    3. Type exit, and then press ENTER. You should be prompted to reboot, if not you should reboot and test.

If you are using an A/V software it might help to uninstall it.

You mentioned using static and DHCP before but said it didn't work. Some routers required you to log off or in your case validate settings in order for settings to stick so maybe that was the problem. Or maybe you just needed to reset the router after reinstalling Winsock, hard to say for sure. Glad you have it working now Josh. :)
