Help ... not able to install USB modems

I purchased a Vaio Z46GD in Oct 2009 with Vista Business 64 bit. I used to get connected to Internet using my Nokia E71 with Nokia PC suit as modem while on the move. I upgraded my PC to Window 7 business 64 bit. After that I am not able to get connected to internet using E71 and Windows 7 compatible Nokia PC suit. Any time I try to get connected it says the Modem is busy with some other application or not configured appropriately. I have tried different things, the Vaio help desk assistance was of no use. Now they are suggesting that I should reinstall Windows 7, which I am not sure that it will solve the problem. Recetly I tried USB connected Huawei network data card and faced the same problem. So I am very much sure that this is a problem associated with Vaio and Windows 7. Can any one help?
