yes, i first got the prompt after initial install BEFORE i setup HG... i enabled it that way, yes.

What do you mean by connecting both computers... how are you doing this, by homegroup? or just regular filesharing, or .... ??

secondly... i'm also going to assume that both the wired and wireless adapter are different manufacturers... possibly for both pcs... would need that info... and how did the driver installation process go? did win7 install driver, did you, if so, how? and where from?

    follow up with kaspersky

a solution for me was because of 2 things...one my server service was not enabled and the second being that i was recently converted to kaspersky. think i might go back to avast after this idk. ugh lol. but either way. the solution from kaspersky so that i could see the computer in my network and connect to the dang printer was to go to the kaspersky firewall settings and go to the networks tab. for me i had 2 drop down menus this is what it kinda looks like for me

    Other Networks
    .......Internet.................... Connected........... Public network
    Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller
    .........neo.rr.com.................. Connected .............. Trusted network

what i did was switched the Trusted network to local and the computer and printer showed up. i hope this works for someone who has ran into this problem as well.

Hello I am having the same problem with my network. And whenI read the bit about the kaspersky I was so relieved as I am using Kaspersky. But when I changed to settings on the firewall to trusted and local still the network sharing wouldnt stay on. I am using Windows 7 professional 64-bit onmy laptop and then windows xp 32-bit on the pc,Both are wirelessand both with completely different network cards. The printer is connected to the pc andI am unable to add it nore even find the pc on my laptopand vice versa on the pc. I cannot find the laptop on the pc. Should I manually create a network or should it recognise all the computers connected to the router and automatically make them visible. I've had some problem for this for a while now even when I had windows Vista 32-bit on my laptop I was unable to be detected nore detect other pc's connected to the router. Any help would be much appreciated, something so easy and straight forward for most people is becoming a nightmare for me
    Thanks
    Damian
