Slow network copy over PPTP VPN connection
I have a Draytek Vigor 2130N router with a Synology DS209+II nas behind it in my gigabit network at home.
I am running a 32-bit version of Windows 7 on my Acer Travelmate 6592G laptop with 4 gb memory installed (3 gb useable). I used to connect with the same laptop running Windows XP to my network over a PPTP VPN connection (windows built-in client). The transfer rate with this setup was fine and I could work remotely without any problems.
Since I upgraded to Windows 7, the network copy speed has dropped to such an extent that copying a 300kb file takes over a minute!
However, if I use an FTP transfer over the VPN connection, the transfer rate is ok.
The internet connection on either end is about 3mbit up so that's not the bottleneck.
Any suggestions what to do?
