    Win7 resets modem-router

My problem looks like this: the modem/router is powered all the time. Each time I turn my computer (win7-64) on or leave it unattended for a while, it resets the modem and speed drops to less than a half ..
On the same network I’ve got XP machines and they don’t do it.
    Has anyone experienced similar problem?

Do you think if I install XP-mode and run it, it will stop doing this?

So far I tested two modems, BELKIN and D-Link, this change/test was suggested by my ISP, but it didn't change anything.
Modem is reset, speed drops, the only way to restore speed is to issue command 10.1.1.1 and re-save setting (without changing anything) and then modem resores connection with the internet and speed is OK.

I don't think it's modem, as computers running XP on the same network don't do reset modem.
Only his one machine does that.

No, it's external modem/router that gets reset, not computer.

    64-Ultimate-OEM.

I also tested (installed on separate HD)
    Windows 7 Build 7100 RC x86 (32bit)
    and it does the same.

    Motherboard? Gigabyte S-sries G41MT-ES2L
I installed recent driver "rt86win7.inf" for network adapter, unchecked IPV6 and unchecked power options (no sleep or hibernation) with no result.

Are the two different modems stand alone from the router, or is the router build into them ? What is the make & model of router if it is a different unit ? Possibly need a firmware upgrade ?
