Networked with no Router, help Please

My computer has two net ports, I want to bridge them and run a cable to a second
Windows 7 computer so the kids can surf. The guy at the computer store says it won't work with 7. I had the same hook-up with XP Pro 32-bit and it worked fine. Could andbody shed a little light on this. I don't have the money to even think about buying a router and wireless card.
