Limited or no connectivity

    Limited or no connectivity


    First let me state that I am running win7 pro on my desktop and my laptop is XP Home I have a linksys wireless router.. Now last year I was running Vista Pro on my desktop and had no problem connecting to the internet with same laptop, this year when I try to connect with the laptop I get Limited or no connectivity,,,Is there something in win7 that is blocking access???Pease help me figger this out thank you ...GaryD...

    Yeah, this sounds like the laptop's problem.

    The first thing I would try is see if you can establish an internet connection through a wired connection. Just plug your laptop directly into your router and disable your wireless adapter.

    Let me know if you need any help disabling your wireless adapter.

    I suspect your wireless adaptor in or attached to your laptop is giving you the issue.

    My router model is WRT54GS
    The wireless adapter is disabled...Now...Would I be rifgt to upgrade the adapter drivers???

    I can't why your old XP laptop won't connect wirelessly. Windows 7 doesn't do anything to the router to cause this to happen.

    In any event, you would be far better served to use the newer Tomato firmware for your WRT54GS router. This was released in 09 and makes your router more compatible with Windows 7. It also makes the wireless networking on your older router work much better.
