    Workgroup problems

    Hello,

I am having problems with windows 7 networking(agian). I wish Microsoft would learn a few things from apple and learn to make things more simple instead of complex. Anyways, I have to run my computer in workgroup because I have an xp machine on this network as well. Funny thing is the XP machine is already working 100% with both my other computers.

    Problem is.
All computers are in the same work group
    Computer A - XP64
    Computer B - Windows 7 64
    Computer C - Windows 7 64

Computer A can see everyfile B & C are sharing and can share its own files... (so it working 100%
Computer B can see A & C but only access A...if I try to see the files on C from B I get this error (i attached a picture of the error)

The same error pops up if I look from c - b

They are both in the same work group
neither are in a home group
File and Printer sharing is on on both B & C
Network discovery is on both computers
    Public share is on
    BOTH firewalls are off.
Password is off. (i don't want a password.)
Both computers can see each other ... but just can not see the files...
    \\computer_B & \\computer_C

ALL files that are shared are set FULL control to everyone.

    help please.

Have you tried it with password protection on? How about your public shares are they on?

windows 7 take lessons from apple....you shouldn't have to go through 500 things to do 1 basic function.

Ok i fixed the issue myself.

The problem was, i was sharing but not the correct way.
The folders I was sharing I was right clicking going to properties and doing permision through that.

What you need to do is right click the folder click "share with"/ specific people drop down box pick everyone then the drop down box beside that pick "read/write"... and you should be golden.

    man windows is so stupid.

Well my network seems to work for me but I do use passwords. You can select a little box that says remember me or something like that and not get asked for password again. Sorry I could not help you, Good luck with your problem. MS has some how to's at this link,
Networking home computers running different versions of Windows
