Windows will not connect to the internet :(

    Hello,

My Parents have a Sony Vaio. At home we have a Linksys wifi network and our city provides AT&T wifi for free. Recently My parents went to Romania and took the laptop with them. In Romania they were not able to use the built in wifi card so one of their friends lent them a internet card that they plugged into the expressgate located on the front of the laptop. Now that they are back in America the computer can not conect to any of the wifi networks around our house using the built in wifi card. Every time we try to connect to linksys it says that windows can not do it. Every time we connect to AT&T it says we are connected but we have no internet access because it is an unidentified network, what ever that means. Plus we have lost the home network. In stead of showing the house icon it shows the bench icon and says that our connection status is public. Does any one have any suggestions on how we can recover our wifi?
P.S. They removed the card from the expressgate before they returned to America.

    Hello Win7confusesme,

Dont let it confuse you. Just come here and we will lend you a helpinghand. If the network is left as unidentified, you will not get interet. Because Windows can't tell if it is a reliable connection, or a safe one either. You also could be having aproblem with the router. It does happe to me sometimes, and i do have the same type of router. Try unplugging the router, leave it for 10 seconds, then plug it back in. As you are doing this, restart your computer. Then try to connect again. Make sure that if you have to choose what type of network it is, you should choose home.

    Let us know,
    Ben
