    Can't See my Ubuntu Machine


    Hi Guys,

    I've got two Windows 7 machines and an Ubuntu machine. the two win7 machines can see eachother just fine. problem is, they can't see the ubuntu machine under 'network'.

    how can i get my ubuntu machine to show up as a computer on the network?

    Have you setup your Linux machine with Samba? this is the server software that you have to install and configure to make your Linux host participate on a Microsoft based SMB network.

    do you know off hand what the sudo apt-get _____ is for Samba?

    nevermind, i found it: sudo apt-get install samba

    This might help you out...it's a small blog that I have with instructions for getting some basics and such working with Ubuntu geared more for beginners.
