WLAN between RC1 and XP

Hi folks,

I'm having trouble to link my two computers, here's the situation: internet goes to the Linksys router, and both the laptop (running XP Pro)and the desktop PC (Windows 7 RC1, 7100 build) connect to the router wirelessly and have no problems accessing the internet.

I'm using Hamachi to share files between the PCs when I'm at work, but it's just not that practical when I'm home, so I tried to establish a local network and trouble begun.

Homegroup is useless since the laptop has XP (and that can't be changed I'm afraid, company machine).

I tried to create the network using XP's Network Setup Wizard with the setup disk that it creates, and RC1 ran it... but in the end it said that "there was an error" (no details available) and even after it asked me to reboot and I accepted, the "MSHOME" network does not exist.

I also tried setting rules in both firewalls (Windows Firewall in Seven and Symantec Client Security in XP) specifically allowing each other's IP addresses, but with no success...

Any help?

Thanks!
