Advanced Sharing Questions
I'm not a fan of using the "Share with" menu in windows7, because when I do that and I unshare the folder, there's an annoying padlock icon which I have no idea on how to remove them (haven't tried googling though).
Anyway, I've been using advanced sharing since forever. Basically what I would do is:
1. Right click on a folder
3. Sharing tab
4. Advanced Sharing
5. Checked "Share this folder" box
and on the second image I provided above, the Shared with would read "Everyone; Ian"
I don't know what mistake I made, but now whenever I do the steps above, the Shared with column would just be "Ian".
I even tried going back to step 5 and then clicked "Permissions" (as shown in picture one) and as you can see, there's "EVERYONE" in there. But it's of no use, because the folder will still read as "Shared with Ian". It's as if the "Everyone" group/username isn't even there.
Anyone can give me some light on this issue?
I know I can just use the SHARE WITH.. option, but like I said, not really a fan of that. And the fact that this happened since 2 days ago (never before) kind of made me wondering. And annoyed
