Just a Few Internet Issues
Actually, I'm not sure what to classify the problem as. Wireless, wifi, internet, connectivity...just pick whichever one best fits.
That aside, with the help of some friends I have successfully built a new computer and I currently use windows 7 as the operating system. For the first few days I could connect to the internet without an issue using a Rosewill RNX-N300X PCI wireless adapter with the most recent drivers and chipsets. However, for the past two days my internet speed on my new computer has plummeted from 10-15Mbps to now only 30kbps. Google after google of common problems with windows 7, wireless adapters and internet troubleshooting brought me no salvation. In safe mode, though, my download speed goes back to 14Mbps. From what I've read, this should mean that the issue is not one relating to drivers. I've also flushed my DNS (whatever that means), edited my startup programs (even with them all turned off I still cannot get anywhere near the speed I get in safe mode), turned off Ipv6 connections, and ran many antivirus scans to no avail. I believe the connection issue lies only with the new desktop and not our router, as 2 laptops running vista, 1 laptop running xp, and 1 desktop running vista can all connect fine.
Another odd quirk that happens sometimes is that the desktop will disconnect from the internet and reconnect, only to disconnect 10 seconds later. This will happen for a few minutes at random, mostly during the evening. And just to pile on some more problems, during the few times that I can get a reasonable connection (around 2-3Mbps) if my brother uses his laptop to connect to the internet; my download speed plummets or disconnects entirely. However, I can connect my own laptop to the internet without disrupting what pathetic connection my desktop has. Go figure
So now I have come to you fine folk over here at sevenforums to help me out. If it helps, my build consists of the following: Intel core i5 750, Gigabyte ga p55, radeon 5770, 4GB ram
