Wifi + Tethered iPhone Modem Doubling

    Hi,

I have searched Google, this forum and others but I can't seem to find a yes or no on this topic.

I have an iPhone 3Gs, I can use it as a tethered modem fine and the speeds are pretty good (on a 3G network). At home I have 3G and Wifi ( wifi through my ISP). I can connect my phone and use it OR use wifi but I can't use both together.

I seem to recall in XP you could do modem doubling (correct me if that's not the correct terminology).

Does anyone know if Windows 7 can support this and how I might configure it?

OR possibly a 3rd party software.

    Thanks for the help!

How can you use 2 different methods to connect to the internet at the same time?
As far as I know, only 1 at a time will work.

you need an intelligent connections aggregation / load-balancing device or software. there is dual WAN routers that will do this, and some software solutions such as nat32 - that claims to do this. tried it at the winXP era with mixed results.

there may be others by now as well, but haven't dug into it. however, this is a very worthwhile venture, so i'd like to revive this thread until a robust / inexpensive solution is found...

From memory when you tether with the iphone you actually use your onboard wifi adapter. so if it's used you naturally cannot use it to connect to your home wifi network (it's either one or the other).

The only other way i know to have both connecting and working is if you have another wireless adapter either via USB or PCMCIA like a sierra wireless card.

not sure about iPhone, but i can tether my android via bluetooth OR usb, and still have 2 spare NICs, one wifi, one wired, on the computer to connect to alt. ISPs - assuming that i have multiple accounts with multiple ISPs.

but load-balancing / aggregation remains an issue.
