Windows 7: Please help me resolve this

Please help me resolve this

I discovered a HUGE flaw in windows 7, thats really been bugging me since it leaves my computer wide open.

For some reason by default my username and all of the files inside of my user folder are automatically shared. I want to know how to get rid of this ASAP!

I don't use FTP, I don't even use P2P sharing apps, and I don't have multiple computers.

I don't understand why microsoft would have this turned on right after a fresh install. It just makes absolutely no sense since business apps, reports, and portfolios are confidential within a company network.

Since I use 1 PC and its at home, I always use home network. This is the most secure profile? I don't care about sharing files. I wish I could disable this as it leaves ports listening.

Thanks

Even if it shows that they're shared, I have still not found any way to share it without my knowledge. However, you can go to Start>Control Panel>Network & Internet>Homegroup and uncheck all folders.

Hope this helps,
Dinesh.

Thanks dinesh

Is there anyway to disable homegroups completely. I noticed even on a fresh install, before I got into OS it created one and assigned a passcode.

Open Computer and on the left side you will find HomeGroup.
Right click on Homegroup and click on Change HomeGroup Settings.
Then click Leave the HomeGroup.

Then go to services.msc and disable these 2 services:
HomeGroup Provider.
HomeGroup Listener.

That's it.
