I had good luck with Netgear. It is very easy to set up which is also important. With Linksys I had more trouble, but the router worked ok. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP, Dell, Gateway, Toshiba - 4 laptops and 2 desktops OS Vista, Windows7, Mint Mate, Zorin, Windows 8 CPU from 1.6GHz Duo to i7 Monitor(s) Displays 2x HP w2207 Keyboard with trackball - no mices Mouse Trackball mice Hard Drives 5x HDD, 7x SSD, 12x Externals Internet Speed DSL 6000 |

Also it may depend on your ISP, some provide a router to work with their service.
It's like all things you can't really say what's best everyone has their favourite and some work better with some connections than others. I'd find out what others are using with your ISP's service and see which are more reliable. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Zoostorm Desktop/ Asus K55A Notebook PC OS Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 32 bit/Windows 8 64bit CPU Intel Core 2 Duo E4600 @ 2400 MHz/Intel B820,1.7GHz Motherboard Foxconn 45CMX/45GMX/45CMX-K/Asus Memory 2048 MB (2 x 1024 DDR2-SDRAM)/8GB 2 x 4GB DDR3 Graphics Card Intel Corp 82945G Integrated Graphics Controller/Intel Sound Card Onboard Realtek/Onboard Monitor(s) Displays Hanns.G HH221 22" inches Widescreen/Asus 15.6 Screen Resolution 1920 x 1080/1366 x 768 Keyboard Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 (UK)/Inbuilt Mouse Microsoft Optical Wheel Mouse/Touchpad Hard Drives ExcelStor (250GB)/Asus Internet Speed Just under 4MB download it's ADSL. All my friends don't care about the brand of their router (they are not very techy), let alone know what is the brand of the router they have. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Acer M802 OS Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit CPU Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q8400 @ 2.66GHz (4 CPUs), ~2.7GH Motherboard MB.SCQ07.002 MB KIT G43 ICH10R HMII EUPLOT6 ECS R Memory 8GB DDR2 Graphics Card HD 6970 1 GB Sound Card Realtek ALC 888s Monitor(s) Displays LG FLATRON 23" W2361V Screen Resolution 1920x1080 60hz PSU Corsair TX650m Case CM 690 II Advanced mid tower Cooling fan Hard Drives Seagate Barracuda ST3750528AS 750 GB 7200 RPM

I'd find out what others are using with your ISP's service and see which are more reliable. Thats ridiculous. Many ISPs let you get a router for free, as long as you return it when you end service with them.
I use a Linksys router. Once we got it working right, we haven't had any issues with it since. What gave use problems was Linksys wireless cards. My friend has a D-Link and has had no problems with it. He just plugged it in and was ready to go. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Toshiba P775-S7100 OS Windows 7 Professional SP1 64-bit CPU Intel Core i5-2450M @2.5 GHz Memory 6 GB DDR3 1333MHz Graphics Card Intel HD 3000 Monitor(s) Displays Built-in 17.3" LED; 22" Insignia NS-L22Q-10A Screen Resolution 1600x900; 1360x768 Hard Drives 750 GB Hitachi
