The reply to a tweeted question stated that whilst the Home and Student edition of Microsoft Office is licensed for installation on up to three machines, all other versions of Microsoft Office are in fact licensed for installation on two machines.     Yep. I got the academic version of office 2010 pro plus (for £40 and it quite clearly states its licensed for two computers.

    You're right. I've used that once a long time ago. In any case, people SHOULD read their EULA, TOS and other agreements. Note also that MSDN has a nice secondary licensing perk for DEVELOPMENT purposes, not for production use.
