Great info. Thanks for sharing. I have good feelings about the new MSE 2.0 in beta testing. It should be even better.

Only one person that I know that disses MSE, the security "guru" on another forum that pushes Trend Micro.

trend micro did not fair so good? but i suppose its all down to personal preference but on the basic principal what stops threats coming into your machine and ease of use of the security software you use is a good factor to some people who just install the software and leave in the background who are novice about security.

I concur. I am going to try the MSE 2.0 beta as soon as I get through playing with Avast.

In case anyone might be interested in trying the new Beta, you can find out what the new features are and download from this site:

Beta for Next Version of Microsoft Security Essentials Now Available

Or you can go directly to Microsoft Connect. In either case you need a Windows Live ID to log in and access the download.

I've been using the Beta since it was released and I'm very pleased. It has a smaller footprint on my Win 7 Pro laptop compared to the original MSE 1.0 which is running on my XP Pro machine. Scans are faster, too.
