    Probably find this update has more to do with the upcoming release of Internet Explorer 9, and the fact that it will be using (or capable of using, if the hardware support is there) Direct2D.
    DX11 uses the DX10.1 APIs, so it's not a straight update to DX11, just more to things that DX11 uses.

    still wouldn't make sense for them to call it dx11 as in no point have i seen Microsoft even suggest its DX11 they are updating (all i see is a references to DX10.1 dll's)...

    Seems similar to the previously released platform update for Vista SP2 and Server 2008 SP2. Just updating APIs for the future.
