Certainly my man. They make nice Google backgrounds. The red dress one is an extra bonus picture.

You can go into the settings on the web page and disable the "instant" feature if you don't like it. I turned it off myself.
    This will do me rightly.

Does not have much impact on me--I use the Google home page less than once per week. I virtually always search with:
    1. Google Toolbar
    2. Sachio Search (FF addition to the context menu)
    3. Various search bookmarklets
Wait, I guess after I search, when I want to tweak the search terms, "Instant" results would show up

Yeah kind of annoying. Complete search results when typing in a single letter? Sorry but thats compeltely useless. Seems like more of a chance for scammers and or advertisers to "cheat" the system. Untill you actually type AT LEAST one word it just compeltely ramdom crap downloaded over my connection for no reason at all.

The active drop down lists were ok, at least they didn't wast gobs of bandwidth with map image downloads and cause the entire screen to flash spasticly. (Looks like a nightmare if your epileptic).

A pretty good reason to go with Bing actually :)

I believe the first letter is searching by your most visited site or sites you visit often.

Like when I type in the letter "W" it showed weather and weather.com was the number 1 result and since I go to that site a lot it is not that bad. Same with just "B" it showed Brewers. I kind of like it.

Indeed a very useful feature. Opening my browser always gets me straight to Google's homepage, so if I immediately need to search for something its right there...

Also, why would displaying search results for a single letter bother anyone? I find it quite interesting myself, aside from the fact that there is always going to be a Wikipedia article on the letter somewhere among the results X)

I kinda think they should just have the homepage be the result page, that way there is not flicker from the homepage to the result page.

Well, consider the fact that many people use iGoogle instead of the ordinary ol' boring Google page style

Here is this video compare using Google Instant and do not use it:

I see that Google dose not provide Google Instant search feature in Google country Specific site (ex: google.com.vn). For using Google Instant, you just visit:

    http://Google.com/ncr
    (ncr = no country redirect)

And you will not be redirect to your Google homepage in your country.

At least you can disable it. That's what I did. It's to the right of the search bar as you hit the results page.

    google instant

    Google Instant

and it would appear they are making it the norm in their search engine with no way of turning it off , just like they did with the sidebar (which you can turn off btw TweakGuides.com - Google Customization Guide )

i use google because its simple , i dont need to know the local weather or the news when i use a search engine i just want a search box , google in my eyes are forgetting why people use them in the first place
