Technet Plus changed and Reduced number of Keys to 5

For some Apps, not all.

I have not seen, nor can I find any official news about this.
But My sub was changed to Technet Plus and number of keys reduced to 5
However, I have the 10 keys i got previously. But if you have 8 of your 10, you now have 8 of 5. You can not get anymore.

I have also heard a rumor that once the Subscription runs out. Your keys are deactivated.

There seems to be some truth to this. Just checked my account, 5 keys instead of 10. I didn't check every app. Shows I've claimed 10 of a maximum of 5 on the ones I have already claimed - ex. Offcie 2010 Pro. For Access 2010, which I had claimed 0, I was able to get a max of 5.

I have a TechNet Professional (Retail) subscription.

When I first got my TechNet subscription, it was suggested to me to get any/all keys I might want and save them in a safe place. I did that, as well as d/l the software I wanted. My main interest was/is windows OS and Office versions.

I think you can use each key 10 times, but may be wrong on this.

I have not tried using the same key more than once yet, but maybe I will try it from already being used on one of my old Pentium Dinosaur computers

Yep, 2 desk tops and a lap top. My Therapist says I'm showing great improvement, got rid of one desktop and put the lap top in the closet. I think next week I get to sit at the desk and she'll lay on the couch.

Yea it was inevitable really wasn't it after all the stuff that went on when 7 came out!!.... I guess 5 keys usable on 10 machines is still quite alot and maybe they will probably give you more if there are legiitmate reasons for it...

While the former of my initial post is a bummer.

This....

Bothers me more.

The reason for this is the total promotion and influx of Technet subs with Win 7.
Which is what I was afraid of and rarely posted on it, nor did I try and promote the idea.
It's too bad too.

I do, however, see in the not so distant future, Windows Software, Including OS, become strictly subscription based.

At which time I will stop purchasing windows and go Linux exclusive. Except in my job.
I don't know,, maybe I will. Or keep one Windows PC and the Rest Linux with Wine.
