Windows 7 SP1 RC-Escrow Build 7601.17104 Available to Select Testers, Reportedly

Microsoft has reportedly produced the Escrow Build of the first Release Candidate for Windows 7 Service Pack 1 and provided the bits for testing to a select pool of testers.
Following the release of Windows 7 SP1 Beta in July 2010, the software giant has been less chatty about the first upgrade for the latest iteration of the Windows client.
No plans for the development process were made public for example, but despite this, Microsoft has been hard at work on the service pack which some still believe will be finalized and offered to users by the end of 2010.

The Redmond company has yet to confirm the availability of Windows 7 SP1 RC Escrow officially, and with the information coming from a third-party source, users need to take it with a grain of salt.
Steven Sinofsky, President, Windows and Windows Live Division was present at the Beauty of the Web event in San Francisco in mid-September, but he wasn’t talking Windows, whether it was Windows 7 SP1 or Windows 8.
According to the report, Microsoft has already provided Windows 7 SP1 RC Escrow to its partners as well as additional testers very close to the company.
It appears that the software giant is also offering more localized versions of the upgrade to Beta testers, on top of the languages for the Beta.
Early adopters that received the bits for Windows 7 SP1 RC got to play with the Wave 0 and Wave 1 languages. Windows 7 SP1 Beta was released in English, French, German, Japanese and Spanish (Wave 0 languages).

    Windows 7 SP1 pre-RC Leaked Screenshots

The Release Candidate (RC) of Windows 7 Service Pack 1 continues to be kept under a tight lid in Redmond, but users can get a taste of what the company has in store for them via a few leaked screenshots that made their way into the wild.

The software giant might still only be offering Windows 7 SP1 Beta and not talking about the development process, but fact is that the company is hard at work building the first major upgrade for Windows Vista’s successor.

On October 6th, a third party source revealed that the Escrow Build of Windows 7 SP1 RC was handed to Microsoft partners as well as a limited number of testers close to the company.

The same source now shared a few screenshots of Windows 7 SP1 RC-Escrow Build 7601.17104.

Just to be clear, this is not the fully-fledged Release Candidate of Windows 7 SP1, but only a pre-RC build.

Having hit Escrow, the focus with Windows 7 SP1 RC is to wrap up the upcoming release, which means that development is pretty much frozen while the company hunts down for any problems, regressions, etc. which could block the Release Candidate.

Yes, I'm aware of that. My comment was regarding the service pack already integrated into Windows 7. The only way to integrate the service pack that I'm currently aware of, is through the use of the WAIK tool, which can be a bit of a pain. So I'm hoping that TechNet will offer the Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 x64 in a DVD download [already integrated]. That way it will be deployed when installing the OS. Which is MUCH better than having to fool around with the WAIK tool. See what I'm saying now?
