Microsoft Links Bing Results to Facebook Quote:
This week, Microsoft announced an interesting tie-in between its Bing search engine and the popular Facebook social networking service. That is, Bing will now tailor its search results so that it accounts for the preferences of your Facebook friends. Microsoft calls this change a "social signal," but a simpler way to think of it, perhaps, is that Bing will now add a new personalized layer to its search results—one that's based on your actual relationships.
"We are rolling out some new features that allow you to take your friends with you into your Bing experience, both at bing.com as well as within the search experience at Facebook," Microsoft Senior Vice President Satya Nadel wrote in a blog postannouncing the functionality. "We will show you what your friends have liked, using Facebook's public 'like' platform, as you navigate through search results in Bing."

I have trouble imagining why I would care what my FB friends "liked" when I did a Bing search. When I do a search, I'm usually looking for info, I don't want it filtered by what my acquaintances "like". | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Home Built, Dell Inspiron 1520 Laptop OS Win 7 Ultimate (64-bit), Win 7 Pro (32-bit) CPU 3.4Ghz 3770K i7, 2.4Ghz Core 2 Duo Motherboard Gigabyte Z77X-UD3H, Dell Memory 8G, 3G Graphics Card ATI Radeon HD 5770, Mobile Intel 965 Sound Card High Definition Audio (Built-in to mobo) Monitor(s) Displays Dell 2409W 24" Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard IBM Model M - used continuously since 1986 Mouse Microsoft PSU Antec Case Antec 100 Cooling CM 212+ Hard Drives 128G SSD OS; 1.5T & 2T Data on Desktop, 320G for laptop Internet Speed 1.5M down 1.2M up :-( Other Info Also have an Acer Aspire netbook, a home-built AMD Dual core (Minecraft server) and home-built Pent 4 all running Win 7. This is not directed at any one person, or anyone really, just my feelings on the matter.
Because, facebook is stupid, really. I mean, who really needs to waste so much time on such absolutely irrelevant crap that infests sites like facebook.
Can people really not live without their friends (ahem, acquaintances) long enough, that they have to check in on their thoughts and tweets every time they turn around? Believe me, I know people like that.
I remember when there were only 3 channels and if nothing was on, you went outside to play.
Oh wait, kids have Androids and Iphones, they can tweet and faceschnook on the play ground. My bad. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Self Built OS Win 7 Ultimate 32bit CPU C2D E6600 2.4Ghz Motherboard Intel D965WH Memory 4G Kingston KHX5400D2 Graphics Card EVGA GTX 570 HD SC (012-P3-1573-KR) Sound Card On-Board Monitor(s) Displays Samsung 226BW Screen Resolution 1680 x 1050 PSU Corsair TX750W Case In-Win C589 Cooling Stock Intel Cooling Hard Drives 2 x 250 Seagate Barracuda
