God almighty, what is going on.

The UK has only just grasped download speeds of 49mb/s, and thats if your lucky to be in a catchment area for cable.

It will be at least 2 years or more for BT to fully roll-out speeds of upto 50mb/s with there new fibre-optics cabling.

I really think this country is stuck in the past of technology almost.

When it came to the Engineering/building age, the UK was the greatest, now come the technology age and the UK is falling behind... dramatically!

    This is what's going on.
So we need more competition...it's amazing what the free market can do. Maybe we should get those Korean companies to come over here and compete so hard with the American companies that they'll be forced to improve their technology.

I think the UK, and surrounding area's are pretty impressive compared to the states. The US is so large with tough geography, and I have no faith in our government.
The grants that recently went out almost all went to rich remote resorts, rather than poor towns because they cannot afford to meet the 50% match requirement for funding. In one town they're still using a siren for emergencies, they can't afford to lay any cable at all..

I consider myself very lucky to have one of the top networks in the country, thanks to the network entirely, not the gov.

Anyway I think the majority of that money should be spent on renewable energy development, human resources, education and security. But I guess fast interent is more important :)
